Believe me, I have tried pretty much all of them. That probably is not what you wanted to hear, but so far experience also demonstrates for me that no service or software will create the perfect library without at least some manual tweaking being necessary. I copy and paste without any issues and so far everything has remained as I wanted. And the margin for error by inadvertently clicking the wrong setting is far safer in Emby. The thing about Emby versus Plex is it is in my experience way more user friendly in terms of manually editing titles, genres, art etc. Yes, it takes a fair amount of time but so far it is totally worth it IMO. Like you, my music library is sizeable but I have split it by priority of likely use and then I just went for it. My two cents - consider manually creating your bespoke music library in Emby. I agree with you about the potential for Emby to take the win at this price range for music I also think adding Discogs as a source would be great - I don’t know however whether, or how, it might fill in the information in the same way MusicBrainz does currently. With a little work, Emby could be the best music server/player in this price range. Please consider a more accurate and less glitchy data source like Discogs as an option. Discogs will have a separate entry for each one. In these cases, using the proper cover art for the correct version helps more quickly identify them visually (and is more accurate in the catalog). Proper album naming and tagging also becomes an issue when you have multiple versions of a particular album, e.g., the initial release, the remaster with bonus tracks, the 2CD deluxe edition, the expanded edition with a bonus music only DVD, the new stereo remix plus 5.1 surround mixes. But I have never been unable to find an artist in Discogs. And I would bet that most of the people with large collections also have very eclectic collections with artists that are not found by the popular services. For those of us with hundreds of artists and thousands of albums, this becomes a major pain in the butt to fill in manually. But as this thread has illustrated, the tagging is easily messed up, and getting the right artist pictures and overviews is inconsistent at best. I like the player interface better than Plex, the cycling backgrounds while the music is playing is a nice touch, and it seems to handle my high resolution multi-channel audio nicely, especially with my nVidia Shield client. I think media programs like Plex and Emby have spent a long time focusing on movies and very little time really looking at making them top notch music players. I would like to put in a vote for a more reliable data source like Discogs. TVMaze also seems to be more reliable than the TVDB lately. It was just a suggestion and thats what the forums are for. But i dont think they are as strict with the submissions as discogs is. ![]() ![]() MusicBrainz Picard was used to supply IDS so my music integrated into emby better. I started using musicbrainz more and more. But i think there are more audiophiles here, better albums data (real vinyl data) and a larger LP database. So vinyl track numbers are A1 A2 and so on for tracks on the A side and B1 B2 and so one for tracks on the B side. The only drawback to me is discogs was a place to add vinyl collections. I do not know how or why musicbrainz is allowing every member (or past members) to be added to the Artist tag individually on some albums. But, because of this, data isn't being added unless its verified and submitted correctly (and checked for duplicates). ![]() If you read that discogs is run by a dictator and the mods are hard on data submissions, yah that last part is true. I have never added anything to musicbrainz, but have and do add albums to discogs. Strangely enough though when running albums thru mp3tag almost every album that musicbrainz doesn't have information on discogs almost always does. Each of these providers are excellent sources with great databases.
